tbru bear dance
Now that SXSW is winding down in Austin, TBRU is about to happen in Dallas. Of course there's little compairson, SXSW - the international Film, Music, Interactive event in Austin attracts hundreds of thousands so it seems, and TBRU pulls in just shy of two thousand. For a bear run, that is huge. Andy Stark has reprieved his promo vid for this Friday night's Bear Dance at S4 on Cedar Springs. Here's this year's
'Good Idea, Bad Idea', and only one 'Hey Girl, Hey' mentioned in it, unlike last year.

progress on the Classic Mercedes Benz
Rusty cleaned up the old head and turbo, it has cracks in two cylinders;

Fortunately, Southern California is full of used parts for old Mercedes Benz cars, and Rusty
has already found a $400. OM617 cylinder head with turbo and bolted it to the block;

The old Garret AiResearch T3 turbo will go away with the old head, it was dripping oil everywhere, and the new Borg Warner KKK A3 comes with a replacement head, and should be less of an oil dripping hazard.

Should be back on the road by the end of the week.

Classic Mercedes Benz
This is my 1979 Mercedes Benz 300SD in the parking lot at the Tuscon Holiday Inn Airport North. progbear and I drove it there from Los Angeles for Fiesta de los Osos. It is powered by the famous Mercedes Benz OM617 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine.
This is what the cylinder head should look like on an OM617 engine.
This is the cylinder head off my engine when it was removed today. Blown head gasket, as noted by lots of coolant blowing out of the radiator when it accelerates. 2 of the 5 cylinders were working. Happened in Westmoreland, California on Highway 86S between Brawley and Thermal. Was towed into Rusty's German Automotive in Arcadia. We will see if the head cleans up. It has about 398,000 miles on it.

Some snapshots from last night's party thrown for the Volunteers at Burning Man. I was a 2011 Airport Volunteer, thus I was there. The venue was the curious "International Art Museum of America" which is located next door to Burning Man's offices at 6th and Market. My companion for the party is the famous SF glass artisan Mr. Jim Billy.

The snapshots seem to not embed, so you'll have to go to this link right here to view
